It was sad to hear of the passing of Kevin Power following his illness with Cancer. He pass on on Sunday 22nd August 2010.

His funeral was today and unfortunatly I had no idea I did plan on trying to send something on behalf of the site, maybe something can be arranged when Bob gets back to Melbourne he would be in a better position to know what is best to do.

I have no other information, other than the following written by John Spring to me this evening.

Back in February I had a long phone discussion with Kevin on the very day
that his Oncologist confirmed that he had just 4 to 6 months to live.

He was so matter of fact & accepting of the Oncologist's news and was
getting all his affairs in order. I have recently tried to eMail Kevin but
over the last month it just bounces back. He was on Red Bubble after P4P.

He was The Melbourne Camera Club's Secretary for several years then it's
EXPOSURE News letter Editor while he was still working for the Premier and
cabinet in Spring St.

But his 'Passion for Pixels' (not the original name) digital photography web
site was a crowning legacy to the MCC and photographers in general.
Unfortunately Kevin's health took it's toll on his ability to manage the P4P
web site.

I was not happy about how and why Kevin was removed from administering P4P
even though there were compelling health reasons for change. Also I was very
disappointed that the Melbourne Camera Club who owned the Domain and Web
Site sold both to Peter Schuck who still owns & administers P4P. MCC
will have to re-invent 'Kevins' wheel.

The Melbourne Camera Club & photography is poorer for not having Kevin and
his Digital Photography Web Site. He was a true leader in this digital
photography over the internet era. I always enjoyed his photography and
company.

I will miss him, another great Club member goes to that big Camera Club in
the Sky.

I have responded to John, and put my views to him regarding what happened and won't elaborate on old dealings, but it was very sad news and I continue to keep this site going as always with him in my mind. It does go a long way to explain what might have been the underlying reasons back in 2007 and the site etc failing and the problems that needed to be resolved. No one is going to be always happy with the way things go, but I feel that had I not stepped in and took over running the site at the time, it wouldn't be here now, but that is all history in the past.

May he rest in peace and hopefully his suffering wasn't long, I think he may have suspected and didn't really get it diagnosed until much later in Feb this year as John has said above.
