Update to set subjects for 2010, NOW SET IN CONCRETE :-
Feb - Emotion (Showing the emotion that you feel is imparted from the image, not just a sad face, happy face but something deeper if possible)
Mar - Still Life (A still life is a picture featuring an arrangement of inanimate, everyday objects, whether natural objects (flowers, food, wine, etc.) or manufactured items (books, bottles, crockery, etc.)
Apr - Street photography...people or character of a street (again can be local to you or in your travels)
May - Something historical local to you (Image to show the historical value and what it means to you if possible, e.g. like July 4th Celebration in the USA, what that means to you)
June - Black & White: Our annual set subject in which the image must be a monochrome. The use of a second colour is NOT permitted. This is the normal definition that is used on this site for this particular competition, so if you are unsure have a look at previous competitions to view what others have done before.
From FIAP A black and white work fitting from the very dark grey (black) to the very clear grey (white) is a monochrome work with the various shades of grey.
A black and white work toned entirely in a single colour will remain a monochrome work able to stand in the black and white category; such a work can be reproduced in black and white in the catalogue of a salon under FIAP Patronage.
On the other hand a black and white work modified by a partial toning or by the addition of one colour becomes a colour work (polychrome) to stand in the colour category; such a work requires colour reproduction in the catalogue of a salon under FIAP Patronage.
Hope that clarifies it for everyone.
July - Paper...paper should be the dominant feature in the image meaning dominate the frame.
Aug - Natural framing used in the picture. Use a doorway, window, tree, etc to frame a subject.
Sept - Song Titles...Express a song title in a photo (Pick a song and make a new Mock up for the CD of the song)
Oct - Face in a crowd (So focus on that and blur around the edges if need be, but it is about "The Face In A Crowd not everything else around it")
Nov - Photograph something that looks like a letter of the alphabet, without actually arranging it, something found within the image. Could be in architecture, food, nature, etc.
Further clarification will be provided in due course, if you see anything that might be an issue (a real one) please let me know and it can be discussed here.
