And I am pleased to announce the Image of the Year winner is Peter Hammer with his image Broken Dreams, an excellent image I think everyone will agree. It was an extremely hard decision to come up with the image of the year again this year and after consultations with several people the final decision was left with me as well. This decision was based on overall participation in the competitions, on the galleries, with postings and comments on other people images, assistance given in the forums and overall site assistance as well.
So lets all give a big hand to the winners and also look forward to participation again next year. The overall thing I did notice was that you need to enter all competitions as those 1 entry points can make a big difference in deciding the overall section winners and places as you can see from the numbers I have included.
Thank you to our supporters of the Creative Competitions this year Wacom-Asia and I do hope that members do click on the advertising links and visit their site and also purchase their products if looking for a useful tool to use with their photography. I anticipate that they will be continuing the sponsorship with the competitions again next year if we do go ahead with them.

This image simply exudes emotion and mystery. The subtle play of light and shadow across the objects in the room and the simple toning give this image a timeless feel.
Well done Peter.

Thanks Peter for your hard work during the year and for putting together the final results.

Have a safe and happy festive break.![]()
Wholly Oly.
Congratulations Peter on Photographer and Image of the Year! Very well deserved!
Congratulations also to Franziska for her fine efforts - like Peter Hammer, I am also inspired by her creative flair - and to those who have participated consistently and done well throughout the year.
As Peter mentioned, there were some stunning images entered in competitions throughout the year, making the choice of Image of the Year most difficult.
Well done all .. .. .. ..![]()

As a matter of interest I entered the Broken Dreams image into the Al Thani international (monochrome section) in November and it failed to get an acceptance although it did get into all 3 salons of the 1st ICS competition in the USA. (I did get 2 other mono images accepted in Al Thani - Homeless in Xi'an was one of them and the other hasn't been on P4P). I guess it shows just how variable judging is!

Peter I have to say that it wasn't an easy decision at all to pick the winner, I had others in mind myself and also those that were involved were of three minds as well. It came back to me finally to make the overall decision and John has summed up our thoughts on the choice very well, certainly better than I can. It was well deserved and when I get a chance will get in touch with Andy Cross regarding the Prize you have won as well as the Image of the Year Recipient.
I wish I had something to give to the others as well, hopefully 2010 will lead to that happening, it certainly has been tumultuous couple of years and it didn't end all that well either but that remains with me and the person involved. A lot happened to my family and myself in 2008 that was extremely difficult to deal with and it was through this site and you as friends that I was able to actually deal with that and I thank each and everyone of you. Some do know the ins and outs but that isn't necessary to bring up here. Our lives are back in balance, the children are safe, healthy and well and with their friends which was most important to us as a family.
Take care everyone, I am around at various times and will respond where and if necessary to any issues.

Thanks Grayce and a lot of it is due to the other members of P4P.
