    Default My Homework

Not sure if anyone is interested, but Franziska asked on the critque page, so I thought maybe others would be interested - and you could challenge yourself.

Forthe 1st module we have to send in 10 photos.
    • 3 shots of the same compostion using fast, medium and slow shutter speeds. Shots of a street scene
    • 3 shots of the same composition using open, between and closed apertures (I used an ornamental cabbage)
    • Varying depths of field - portrait + landscape and macro of a vegetable.
    • 1 shot showing emotion - person and his/her car. this was difficult as most people in China don't own cars - and certainly not students and teachers that I mix with. So it made me laugh as an insight into different cultures. The lecturer would have figured that one would be really easy!!
    Next module assignments:

'A sense of place" - between 40-50 shots around where I live to capture the essence/true feeling of it. Different times of day.
    • 6 shots from this amount - 3 in landscape mode, 3 in portrait, 2 must be night shots.
    • Another 2 'bad' photos - and an explanation of why they are bad.
Unfortunately, in this digital day and age, I have to submit them printed!!!

It is a course based in Australia. I enrolled in 2 courses - Journalism, and this Photography one. Other photography courses are on-line, but for some reason, this one is not and I have to post my assignments to them. They send the material for both courses, and I can email my Journalism assignments. I really don't understand WHY I can't email my photographic ones as well, because that way the lecturer would be able to see the EXIF data. As it is I have to print the photo, then write all the EXIF data to go with it. Very strange!!

The course comes through one of the ad sponsers on this site.

Module 3 - portraits. 6 portraits expressing "People in their environment or work", plus 2 more that did not work and the reason why they didn't work. Must use zoom lens - longer than 50mm.
    Thanks,

I received the first assignment back, with lots of helpful comments. Part of the assignment was to give the lecturer some info about camera equipment, and photographic experience.

One question asked if I was a member of any photographic societies - and I answered P4P - which received a DOUBLE tick!!

Each photo submitted also had to have metadata recorded with it, and given that my camera is the Canon 40D, not a full-frame, I was told to multiply my focal length by 1.6 to show true focal length.
    Thanks,

    Deborah

So did you pass that is the main thing, and great about the Double Tick on P4P.

The advice about focal length is correct about multiplication.
